With cheaper airline tickets being sold on line, it is much easier now on the pockets to travel and visit exotic places. One of these vacation spots that people go to is Maui. Known for its sandy beaches and great weather, Maui is one of the best places to be when you just want to unwind and have fun. But while it is now easy to procure travel tickets going to Maui, one problem that people now face is their residence. Now, the dilemma is how to find a vacation rental house in Maui at such a short notice.
Because a lot of people can now afford to travel, hotels and beach houses are bursting in the seams. Every place imaginable is fully-booked. This is especially true when it is peak season. And even if off peak, some places like Maui for example, remain fully-booked because many people travel during off peak months because of cheaper rates.
Still, if you are ingenious and resourceful enough, you can find a rental place in Maui. You just have to look in places that are not so often looked into.
Search the Net
You procured your tickets online and you got it at a much cheaper rate. Who said that you cannot do the same with your residence in Maui? Rental houses who have no budget for placing advertisements in newspapers and travel magazines often place ads at travel websites. This is a cheaper alternative and they have more coverage.
Read travel articles
Travel sites in the Internet will surely have recommendations on where to go or what number to call when you are in need of rental houses in Maui. Some will even give you recommendations on the best places to stay when you are in the island. The best thing about this travel articles is the fact that most of the rental houses that they feature comes complete with the photos of the amenities as well as the phone number of the place.
Ask around
If you know people who have already traveled to Maui, ask them if they can recommend rental houses in the area. Chances are they have come across charming places that you can rent out for the time being. They may even stayed in a rental house when they visited Maui. If that is the case, you are pretty lucky because they can give you an insider’s info on their trip to Maui. This way, you can get a first hand account from someone who has truly traveled to Maui.
Check the travel agencies
Travel agencies do not only have contacts for tickets and airfare. They can also provide you with information on where to stay when you are already there. And even if you have not booked your tickets with them, don’t hesitate to ask. They will gladly help you. You will be surprised at how helpful people can be when you just ask. After all, they already have the information. They don’t have to look for it anymore.
Check the online directories
There are online directories that can provide you with contact numbers of several potential vacation and rental houses in Maui. One danger with this though is some sites ma y not be updated with their information, so you have to call the numbers and confirm.

Who does not want a vacation? This is especially true if you are going to one of the most beautiful spots in the world, Maui Hawaii. But dreaming and reality is way different especially if you do not have the money to pay for the airline tickets, the accommodations, the food and even the side trips.
With the increasing costs of airfare and commodity prices, are there still cheap all inclusive packaged vacation trips to Maui Hawaii that you can avail of?
Actually there is. That is if you know where to look and how to look. With the birth of the world wide web, there are millions of sites out there that can provide you with a lot of special offers for trips abroad.
For your convenience, most offers in fact already contain everything, from the airfare to the food and the hotel accommodations. You just need to click on the destination that you want and voila! You have yourself a great travel package that you and your family can enjoy.
But wait, there’s a catch. Like all great offers, there are things that you have to compromise with in order to avail of these special all inclusive vacation trips packages especially to a place like Maui Hawaii. Here are they.
1. Season
You may be able to get a cheap all inclusive package but only if you are willing to take your family there off season. This means you have to take a vacation at a time when only few people take their vacations. This is because rates are generally cheaper at this time of the year because of the low demand for it. Nobody goes there so hotels and airlines give promos to entice people to take a vacation in their country.
This can cause major problems with your schedules, especially if you have young kids who go to school everyday. But hey, maybe you can work it out. One tip is to go to a place where the weather is different from yours or those with a different school schedule as you have. Check out the climate in Maui and their class schedule. It may coincide with yours.
2. Advance booking
Another way to get great offers and all inclusive packages is to book as early as you can. For instance, if you book a flight or avail of a package one year before, you can get as much as 30 to 40 percent off the original price. This is true for both off season and peak season rates.
This is because your money will already be in their hands and they can use it for investment purposes. For advance booking, check out travel agencies near your place or call the airlines that have trips to Maui. They often have all inclusive packages that you can avail of.
3. Special tourism rates
One of the Maui, Hawaii’s main industry is tourism. Every year hundreds of tourists visit the island’s great beaches and scenic spots. Because of this, they will most likely have government programs and projects that are geared towards developing their tourism. Look into these programs. Often, they will have special offers and packages that are designed to entice tourists to go to their place.
Some of these packages will have all inclusive vacation trip essentials that you will need when you go to Maui, Hawaii: airfare, food, accommodation, car rental, sightseeing trips etc.

You have the travel tickets and you have the accommodation. The problem is how you will get to the hotel from the airport and how you will get to the beach from the hotel. Well, you forgot something when planning a Maui Hawaii vacation, a auto rental.
Actually, you are not alone.
Most people who plan their vacations, whether in Hawaii or anywhere else in the world, always forget this small detail. Some do not even bother at all, rationalizing that the hotel can provide car service for them or that there are hundreds of cabs that can accommodate them. The problem with these two is the fact that they are limited in some ways.
Hiring a cab for example will never be as convenient as having a transportation that is all your own. If you rent an automobile, you can go whenever you want, wherever you want. You just need to start the engine. You don’t have to wait for a cab in the middle of nowhere. Hotel car service, on the other hand, can be pretty expensive, not to mention very hard to get by.
You see most people in the hotel will probably need a car service. And you have got to be at the first in line if you want to leave first. Otherwise, you have to wait for the other people to come back before you can leave or at the very least have the hotel tell you that there is no more cars available.
One down side though with having your own car while on vacation is the directions. This is especially true if this is the first time that you have visited Maui or Hawaii. And even if you have a map, nothing beats having a driver who already knows the way.
You can solve this problem by getting a car rental service that comes with a driver. Most auto car rentals will offer this because they know that tourists don’t have the patience to look at maps and follow road signs.
After all, this vacation is all about relaxing and not stressing over which way to turn to get to the beach! Having a driver is however more expensive than hiring just the car. So make sure first that you have the budget for it.
When you sum it up, renting a car from an auto rental service for the duration of your vacation is cheaper than hiring the hotel’s service.
But you have to take into account the number of times that you will actually use the car rental service. If you are just going to use it once or twice, then you are better off with the hotel’s car service. If however, you plan to tour the whole state, then a car just for you is better.
If you do not plan to go at all and you just plan to stay at the beach and do water sports all day long throughout your vacation time, then don’t anymore rent a car.
You can just book a hotel that is nearer and you all have to do is walk towards the beach. This will save you a lot of expenses for taxis. Auto rental when on a vacation in Maui Hawaii or in any other place is important but it all depends on how you plan to spend your vacation.

First you probably need to know what local food is. There are a lot of different types but I’ll go over the most popular items that you will see on the menu in local Kona restaurants.
What is referred to as a “plate lunch” or “mixed plate” consists of 2 scoops of white rice, 1 or 2 scoops of macaroni or potato salad, sometimes it’s a combination of both, and then Kalbi barbeque beef, Teriyaki Beef or Teriyaki Chicken just to name a few. You can order just one or all of the different meats to go with your rice and salad. Hence the name “mixed plate”.
It would be a crime not to mention the Loco Moco, In case you’re wondering just what is a Loco Moco, it’s two scoops of rice, topped by a hamburger patty with two fried eggs on the very top and smothered in gravy, and then one scoop of potato mac salad.
One other thing about local food, white rice comes with everything. It’s like the mashed potatoes of the Pacific. The locals will most always order rice with a steak instead of a baked potato for example.
OK, Now that you know what local food is, this is where to get it
Two places come to mind.
My favorite Kona restaurant for breakfast and lunch is U-Top-It. They’re located at 75-5799 Alii Dr. behind Lava Java. Their teriyaki beef plate is to die for, but they specialize in pan crepes. You can pick from the wide variety of toppings they have available and design your own meal, hence their name “U Top It” or you can pick from one of their specialties like “Kanak Attack” which is Portuguese sausage, spam & onions grilled in a pan crepe and topped with fried rice and two eggs.
What’s interesting about this place is it’s the typical “hole in the wall” out of the way place, but the food rivals any restaurant in Hawaii. U Top It is a small mom and pop operation run by Curtis and Leslie Masuda. Curtis has been a chef at some of the most famous resorts here on the big island, before setting out on his own he was at Kona Village Resort for 10 years. If you’re not familiar with Kona Village, you have to be at the top of your game to work there.
Another interesting fact about this restaurant is there were two other eateries that tried to make a go of it in this location and couldn’t. Just goes to show that if you have the best local food in Kona, no matter where you are people will find you. Plus they’re super nice folks to boot!
Big Island Grill is another good place for the best local food in Kona
Run by Bruce and Maile Goold, another mom and pop operation.
Located on the corner of Hanama Place and Kuakini Hwy. it’s very easy to find. The Big Island Grill tends to specialize in more main stream local food like Loco Moco’s for example. They don’t take reservations and there is always a line to get in. You won’t leave this place hungry, the portions are very large and the prices are reasonable.
Big Island Grill is another one that took over a building where two other eateries couldn’t make it. Once again proving if you have the “right stuff” in the restaurant business people will flock to you.
There are other places here that serve local food, but I like U Top It and Big Island Grill for the best local food in Kona.

The island of Kauai is becoming a vacation destination for people who want the serenity of a restful break amid the natural beauty of Hawaii. Kauai is not as popular a vacation destination as Oahu and Maui and because of this still has most of its old world charm which is the beauty of the place. There are hotels available in the area but there are also Kauai vacation rentals which may be an even more comfortable and luxurious alternative to hotel living. Many people have homes in the area they use for second homes and make available their home for vacation rentals when they are not in residence there. This is a great alternative to hotels and can be a lot more comfortable especially if traveling with a family or larger group. Condominium rentals are also a great alternative for Kauai vacation rentals. There are more condos available nowadays on the island and you can generally get a great deal on these.
Kauai vacation rentals are a great way to experience the beauty that is Kauai. There are many activities and sites to see on the island and it is a perfect getaway for those who enjoy a relaxing and beautiful atmosphere. With the less hustle and bustle in Kauai than on the more popular tourist destinations of Oahu and Maui, this is ideal for families, individuals and couples who are looking for a Hawaii vacation but without the large crowds and more commercial ambiance of the other islands.
For Kauai vacation rentals, check into homes. There are many homes available to rent daily and weekly. If you are looking for a summer vacation, you can also get a discount price for monthly rentals. This is a great way to save money, allow you the luxury of a home and be able to cook and save some money on going out to eat every meal. Prices for Kauai vacation rentals depend on the size of the home and how luxurious it is. There are small cottages available all the way up to beautiful, luxury style homes.
On the lower end of the spectrum, a home that sleeps four, a smaller one bedroom, one bath cottage can run from one hundred fifty dollars to two hundred dollars per night and from seven hundred fifty dollars to eight hundred fifty dollars per week. For luxury Kauai vacation rentals, the prices can increase dramatically. However, you will get breathtaking views, luxury homes and beach side housing. If traveling with a larger group, the cost of these luxury homes can be split among the parties and you will have a lovely home at a reasonable price. Luxury Kauai vacation rentals start at approximately three hundred dollars per night and can increase up to almost one thousand dollars per night. Weekly rates are usually slightly discounted from the daily rates and can range from one thousand five hundred dollars to over eight thousand dollars per week. Many Kauai vacation rentals for luxury homes require a deposit to insure against damage. This deposit will be refunded upon check out and inspection of the home.
Kauai vacation rentals also include condos and even some apartments. These are a bit more affordable than the luxury home Kauai vacation rentals but you can still get luxury and beach front property at a slightly lower price. Condo and apartment rental prices start from approximately one hundred twenty dollars to four hundred dollars per night. Again, there are discounted rates for weekly rentals and you can typically save one hundred dollars or more on a weekly rate than if you rent daily. Many of the condos are close to or overlook the beach so you can have a beautiful view to wake up to and come to every day. These convenient Kauai vacation rentals are among the top choices for alternatives to hotel stays. They afford a bit more privacy, luxury and the feel of a home that is desirable on a relaxing vacation.
Kauai vacation rentals are often equipped with Internet services or high speed wireless capabilities so you can stay in touch with work or home via the Internet. You will never be too out of touch even though the relaxing ambiance may seem like you are. Check Kauai vacation rentals for availability well in advance of your planned trip. Many of the more popular locations will be booked early and some homes have standing reservations for repeat vacationers. If you have the home of your dreams you have been saving for, book it as early as possible for the best vacation possible.Article Source: http://www.articledashboard.com

You can read a hundred of the “10 Best Activities Hawaii has to Offer†and find as many lists with differing information. This is not because the lists are wrong, it is simply because there are so many amazing activities to do in Hawaii that each list maker can only include their top 10 favorites, which is why there are so many differences. Here are 10 more of the best activities in Hawaii, but they are generalizations that appeal to the general population and tourists heading to the islands for vacation. So, the best thing to do is read this list and rank the activities you like most and call and make reservations before your vacation begins. Then, when you reach the islands you can look around, check out other activities, and either choose more on this list or some of your own. Remember, there are several islands that make up Hawaii and all of them have special activities. The goal is for you to have the most fun possible and enjoy your Hawaiian vacation.
Hawaii Activity #1 Hanauma Bay
Hanauma Bay, on the island of Oahu, boasts an amazing coral reef that is simply out of this world. There are many fish species that call Hanauma Bay and the coral reef their home, which makes for incredible snorkeling. In fact, so many people snorkel at Hanauma Bay that it often gets quite crowded. So, if you want to snorkel at Hanauma Bay you should get there early or find out which days are the slowest in order to enjoy this fabulous experience.
Hawaii Activity #2 Hawaii Volcanoes
The Volcanoes National Park on the main island of Hawaii is out of this world. When you visit this park you will encounter 330,000 acres preserved for hiking and the like, as well as Mona Lau volcano that is dormant and the active, lava flowing Kilauea volcano. You will be impressed to see the red, hot glow of lava oozing out of this volcano. Spend a few hours or even a few days in The Volcanoes National Park.
Hawaii Activity #3 Maui Drive
Take the road from the Kahului Airport all the way to Hana and you will pass over countless bridges, enjoy the beautiful landscape where you will see pineapples growing and proceed through the tropical rainforest where other amazing fruits grow in addition to eucalyptus trees. It takes several hours to make this short drive, but near the end you will be blessed with the vision of black sand beaches that are simply astonishing in their beauty. When you finally end up in Hana you can enjoy excursions to waterfalls as well as great hikes.
Hawaii Activity #4 Waimea Canyon
On the island of Kauai is the Waimea Canyon which is simply a breathtaking experience. The canyon is so large and colorful that Mark Twain dubbed it the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.†You will love the adventure and scenery at Waimea Canyon so you must include this on your vacation “to do†list.
Hawaii Activity # 5 Waikiki Beach
If you are looking for a luxurious resort and a relaxing beach, then Waikiki Beach is the place for you. In fact, the majority of the resorts are located on Waikiki which was made popular in the 1800s by Hawaiian royalty who frequented the area for its beautiful beaches. This area is certainly not economical, but every type of luxury you can imagine is available to you.
Hawaii Activity #6 Kona
The Kona coast is also a great resort location and its beaches are fabulous for sun bathing and other beach activities, as well as fishing and even snorkeling. As a result, many people vacation at Kona because there are so many activities available in one place. There are also coffee plantations that produce the natural and organic Kona coffee so you could always take a tour to see how coffee is grown, processed, and ultimately packaged and sold. Whatever you decide to do, Kona has a lot of options.
Hawaii Activity # 7 Na’Pali Coast
The island of Kauai boasts the Na’Pali Coast which is one of nature’s wonders. The towering cliffs originate on the ocean’s floor and ascend from the water to create amazing gorges created by waterfalls streaming down over centuries and eroding the stone. You can hike to the Na’Pali coast, but this might take all day. There are other options like boat tours and helicopter rides that will also allow you to reach Na’Pali without so much effort if you are not in the best physical condition to walk 11 miles or don’t have that much time to spare.
Hawaii Activity #8 Iao Valley
This cloud covered valley on the island of Maui provides a historical lesson for tourists because this flourishing valley was the home to the agricultural god, Lono, and during feast week the Hawaiians all joined together in the Iao Valley to honor Lono. You will be amazed at the shape of the valley and the general feeling you have of history when you visit this amazing place on Maui.
Hawaii Activity #9 Go Whale Watching
Whale watching can be a spectacular experience so you should definitely include this in your itinerary. There are whale watching tours that can be booked from Hawaii, Kauai, Oahu, or Maui. You should book in advance, however, because these tours can get filled up quickly and don’t happen year round!
Hawaii Activity #10 Luau
When people think of Hawaii the first thing that comes to their mind is the luau. As a result, when you visit the islands you absolutely must attend a Polynesian luau to top off your vacation. You will enjoy the food, music, dance, and sites of the luau and it will be an experience that will stay with you long after your vacation ends and you return to your real life.
When you visit the islands you will not have enough time to do all the amazing activities waiting for you. However, you should pick the ones you find most interesting and save the rest for subsequent vacations. When you visit Hawaii, you are sure to be enchanted and engaged.

Hawaii is made up of several islands and Kauai is one of the most famous and certainly has many activities to occupy tourists on vacation. In fact, Kauai has so many things to do that you may not want to travel to any of the other islands because you are having so much fun! In fact, the Hawaiian island of Kauai is the oldest of all the Hawaiian islands and is known for its dense and beautiful foliage and flowers as well as its amazing strands of beaches. Whether you are heading to Kauai on a family vacation, honeymoon or business trip you will find plenty of activities geared to you. The following suggestions are just a few of the many activities awaiting you on tropical Kauai island.
Kauai Activity #1 Helicopter Ride
A helicopter ride is an amazing experience in itself, but when you are flying over the breathtaking landscape of Kauai you will certainly be blown away. The reason is because on the helicopter ride you will get an up close view of the most amazing waterfalls, cliffs, and foliage you have ever seen. Another benefit you will receive when taking a helicopter tour is an up close view of Mountain Waialeale, which without taking a helicopter tour you will be unable to see. This activity can be a little on the expensive side, however if you want to take the most amazing photos you should definitely do so.
Kauai Activity #2 Movie Tours
Kauai is very popular as a location for movies and over the years many movies have been filmed there, at least in part. As a result, there are movie tours you can take to see where different movies were filmed and learn a little more about the filming process. For example, South Pacific, Gilligan’s Island, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jurassic Park and many other movies have locations that are part of the movie tours in Kauai. So, if you are a movie fan, or simply a fan of one of these movies, you might enjoy taking a bus, jeep, or even helicopter tour of these locations.
Kauai Activity #3 Koke’e State Park and Waimea Canyon
Exploring Koke’e State Park and Waimea Canyon provide tourists an incredible view of Kauai. Within the State Park there are many different hiking paths that lead to Waimea Canyon as well as others that take you to other strategic areas for viewing. The Park is huge so you can spend a whole day exploring. Make sure you take a hiking path to the Canyon where you will be amazed with all the colors that make up this 10 mile long and two mile wide canyon. It is simply awe-inspiring to take in and you should spend some time simply appreciating nature and the beauty of Kauai.
Kauai Activity #4 Waialua River Valley
The only river in Hawaii that can be traveled offers amazing boat and kayak trips for tourists. This provides an amazing view of foliage, wildlife, as well as the Fern Grotto. Spend the day navigating the river in a kayak or boat and truly enjoy the beautiful scenery of the island and the Waialua River.
Kauai Activity #5 Limahuli Garden and Preserve
One of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the United States, Limahuli Garden and Preserve offers guests 1000 acres of flora and fauna. There are guided tours if you are interested in an in depth tour and learning more about the garden and its plants and flowers, or else you can tour the botanical garden on your own.
Kauai Activity #6 Play Golf
Kauai does not have a lot of golf courses, but the ones it does have are out of this world and were designed by PGA heavyweights like Jack Nicklaus. As a result, if you enjoy playing golf then you must check out at least one of these amazing courses on Kauai Island. If you are visiting in the fall you might want to attend the PGA’s Grand Slam, of course you would need to buy tickets early.
Kauai Activity #7 South Shore
The South shore of Kauai is absolutely amazing in its beauty. You will enjoy the beautiful white sand beaches, the deep blue ocean, and the unbelievable sunsets. Also, most every day the sun is shining so you can work on your tan or simply engage in some of the fun beach activities in and around Poipu.
Kauai Activity #8 Sugar Plantation Tour
If you are interested in learning a little of the history of the islands while you are on vacation you should definitely tour the sugar plantation in order to get an idea of how the island survived for more than one hundred years. You can take a tour or else visit the free museum, depending on your schedule and budget.
Kauai Activity #9 Luau
Hawaii is known for luaus and when you are on Kauai you should definitely attend a luau. There are many that take place and your hotel may be the best place to view this Hawaiian tradition.
Kauai Activity #10 Na Pali Coast
Last, but certainly not least, is a tour of the Na Pali Coast. This is considered one of the most amazing areas in Kauai, however you can’t reach it on foot. You will need to take a Zodiac raft or else a helicopter tour in order to really get a great view of the area. You will be overwhelmed for sure and this tour should be first on your list!
There are plenty of other activities to keep you busy when you are on Kauai from eating in some of the finest restaurants, shopping, playing tennis, and simply enjoying the beauty that is Kauai. However, the length of your vacation will determine how many activities you can actually take in, as well as your budget. So, try the top 10 list here and if your wallet and schedule allow check out some of the other amazing opportunities available on the island of Kauai.
